Ladies Gloves (Material Memory)

Year: 1960s/1970s

Origin: Plymouth

Donated By: Sara Gilbert

Sara’s mother’s gloves, worn during their church visits, carry precious  memories. Sara, drawn by her love for singing, tolerated the church’s  ever-present chill and needed the gloves.

Likely bought in Plymouth during a late 1960s family shopping trip, Sara has treasured these accessories. Rediscovering them in her sister’s garage after their mother’s passing felt like a comforting journey through time. Now, they rest in her mother’s old suitcase beneath Sara’s bed, holding immeasurable value.
