Repaired Slippers (Material Memory)

Bought in 2015, these slippers have served Damien well. He has treated them to various repairs, insoles and patches over the years, the most visible being the Harris tweed patches on the upper. All inspired by his sewing skills and efforts to make-do and mend. During Damien’s exciting venture into BBC’s The Great British Sewing Bee in 2021, he chose to wear his comfortable wool slippers while competing in the sewing workshop. Damien made it to fifth place in the competition and continues to take care of his wardrobe by mending well loved items. He hopes to inspire others to do the same.
